How to measure your dog?

Measuring your dog helps you choose the most suitable size for the product. The right size affects comfort, safety and functionality. Harnesses, collars, booties, hygiene pants, male belts and dog jackets fit best when the size is chosen according to your dog’s actual measurements, not only by breed or weight.

The measurements needed depend on the product. Common measurements include neck circumference, chest circumference, back length, waist circumference and paw size. For harnesses, you often need the chest and neck measurements. For jackets, back length and chest circumference are usually important. For booties, you should measure the paw width and length.

It is best to measure your dog while they are standing in a natural position. Use a soft measuring tape and measure snugly, but not too tightly. The tape should follow the shape of the dog’s body without pressing into the coat or skin. If your dog is restless, keep the situation calm and ask another person to help if needed.

Breed can give a general idea of size, but it is not enough for choosing the correct product size. Dogs of the same breed can differ greatly in body length, chest depth, neck circumference, muscle structure and weight. This is why your dog should always be measured before ordering, even if the breed is familiar or you have used a similar size before.

For dog booties, we generally recommend choosing the larger size if your dog's paw measurements fall between two sizes. Once the product arrives, it should always be tried on your dog before use to ensure a comfortable fit that does not restrict natural movement.
